CONGRATULATIONS to our very own Palmer Hudson for being named Region III part-time teacher of the year.
Also recognition goes to Mrs. Ginger Armentrout, Administrative Extraordinaire, and Mrs. Delores Crosby, Transition Specialist for 10 years of service at Colleton County Adult Education.
Our family member of the month is Mrs. Delores Crosby, transition specialist. She enjoys walking, sudoku and taking her grandson Ethan to the movies. She is a member of Bethel United Methodist Church here in Walterboro. She said, "It has been a pleasure working with our students and staff for the past 10 years. I appreciate this recognition."
Shandon, Amber and Tristan obtained their HSED from us. Here's what they had to say about their experience at Colleton County Adult Education:
My experience at Adult Education was a great one!! The staff cheered me on and encouraged me the whole way through. They boosted my confidence and made my experience so much fun. Thanks to everyone at Adult Ed for making me feel like part of their family.
My experience at Adult Education was great. Every Tuesday and Thursday night when I went to class, it was like going to visit family. I had the opportunity of meeting some really nice people while I attended the school.
Mrs. Ginger is a really outgoing woman. She has a really strong personality.
Mr. Chris is a really funny and outgoing person.
Mr. Ritter (Coach) is a man who tries to make learning fun but educational at the same time.
I can not forget the one person who helped me succeed. My teacher, MR. PALMER. He never gave up on me. He pushed me to understand that I can do it, I just have to set my mind to it.
And to ALL of them I would like to say.............THANK YOU!!!!
Hello, my name is Tristan Cohen and I am a graduate of CCAE. Being here since the fall of 2016 has literally flown by. I can't believe that this is a finishing chapter in the long book that is my life. I have been here for 7 months and it seems like a lifetime, in a good way because of the amazing, phenomenal, and over all loving staff members here. When you have such elegant people in your life especially when it comes to education it seems to make things flow much smoother along with making it more memorable.
When starting Adult Education, don't expect it to be easy but just know that your teachers and staff members are with you and will help you with anything. One thing I loved about this program is how many questions I was allowed to ask while I was here. They didn't mind me asking the simplest or even "dumbest" questions. They don't mind you asking and they are not going to make you feel bad for not knowing something. "If you tell me to do something, I'll never learn. But if you show me something I will"---Django Reinhert. The teachers at this school are amazing with understanding your problems and while you are here, they are willing to help you get a job, prepare for a job interview, and just give you basic life skills, which are not always taught to our youth any longer.
In closing, I have to say that I am kind of heart sick at the fact that this is over for me. It makes me want to turn back a couple of pages and reread or relive this chapter of my life. As one of my heroes said, "...Though this has been a beautiful chapter in my life, you have to know when to turn the page so it's about time I lay down my pen for this chapter" -- Socrates (Philosopher). I guess it's time for me to go on to my next adventure.
