Basic Skills Education Program
Colleton County Adult Education serves hundreds of adult
learners every year and the vast majority of those students enroll
in our Basic Skills Education Program. Our certified and highly
qualified teachers work with adult students where they are by
building on life experiences. Students practice reading, writing,
and math skills for 16 hours during the morning sessions or six
hours during the evening sessions each week. Adult learners are
encouraged to practice outside of class as often as possible to
ensure success in a timely manner. We encourage e-learning and
offer internet based software specifically designed for the adult
learner at no additional cost to the student. Basic skills
education classes assist the adult learner to prepare for the
WorkKeys Tests, the HSED tests, and employment requirements.
The cost is $30 per semester.
